Bridge Road, Westmead Childcare

Zait was selected by Advanced Early Learning to provide Structural engineering design and supervision services to their new Childcare Centre at Westmead, designed by Advanced Architecture and Construction.

The childcare centre was a conversion of a heritage listed house, by part demolition and the construction of a basement carpark beside the remainder. The childcare centre comprises of Indoor and Outdoor Play Areas, Cot room, Kitchen, Laundry, and Staff rooms.

Key to the structural design was the shoring adjacent to the heritage building which had to be achieved without damaging the original and fragile structure. The new superstructure then had to be integrated with the heritage house, with sensitivity to its original construction.

This project is one that brought some interesting Structural challenges, to which our Team was dedicated to overcoming, to deliver a safe environment for families and staff.
